Snapshot: Our Chosen Platform

For this initial phase, we’ve selected Snapshot as our voting platform because we want to take things one step at a time, starting with a highly successful platform widely used by many large projects. This approach allows us to leverage the benefits of a proven system before developing our own custom DAO platform. 

Snapshot has gained popularity in the crypto community for several reasons:

1. Gas-free voting: Unlike on-chain voting, Snapshot allows users to vote without incurring gas fees, making participation more accessible.
2. Flexibility: It supports various voting strategies, from simple Yes/No votes to more complex quadratic or ranked-choice voting.
3. User-friendly interface: Snapshot’s intuitive design makes it easy for community members to engage in governance.
4. Transparency: All proposals and votes are publicly visible, ensuring a fair and open process.

While Snapshot serves our current needs, it’s important to note that this is only an initial setup. As we progress, we might move to a different DAO platform that would be tailored to DOP’s specific requirements and community needs.

 

Who Can Vote and How

In our initial setup, each token represents one vote, and each wallet can vote once. The total number of tokens you hold determines the total number of votes you can cast. We aim to involve everyone in the decision-making process, ensuring that every token holder’s voice is heard.

It’s important to note that this structure may evolve as we continue to test and refine our governance model. We are committed to finding the best structure for our future ecosystem.

The first proposal will go live on Wednesday, September 25th, and will remain open for two weeks until October 9th.

Token Utility

Participating in the DAO is one of the first utilities we’ve discussed for the DOP token. By holding DOP tokens, you gain the power to influence the direction of the project and help shape its future. This is an exciting step forward in our journey towards decentralization and community empowerment.

 

A New Space for Discussion

To facilitate open dialogue before voting takes place, we’ve created a new channel on our Discord server called “dao-discussions“. This space is designed for community members to debate proposals, share ideas, and ask questions. We encourage everyone to participate in these discussions, as they play a crucial role in shaping the future of DOP.

 

Our First Proposal: The DOP Grants Program

For the first proposal on the DAO’s agenda, we’ve chosen to focus on the first round of the DOP Grants Program – the perfect starting point for our community-driven governance model.
