DOP to Launch New Multiparty Computation Ceremony for Enhanced Selective Transparency

main

We are excited to announce that DOP will be holding another Multiparty Computation Ceremony. This ceremony will contribute to the upgrade of DOP’s smart contracts to include the new Selective Transparency features, ahead of the feature’s upcoming launch.

As you may recall, we held a similar Multiparty Computation Ceremony in May 2024, prior to the official launch of the DOP mainnet. Now, as we prepare to launch the upgraded version of DOP with Selective Transparency, we’re conducting another ceremony specifically to secure these new features. Your participation will directly contribute to the security and privacy of Selective Transparency within our protocol, as the ceremony constructs new zero-knowledge circuits essential for their proper function.

What is a Multiparty Computation Ceremony?

In short, it’s a cryptographic process essential for creating parameters for zero-knowledge proofs, ensuring transactions can be verified without disclosing all details. For a more in-depth explanation of the process, please refer to our previous blog post about the first Multiparty Computation Ceremony we held in May 2024.

Why Your Participation Matters

The more participants, the stronger the security. Even if most participants were dishonest, just one honest individual ensures the success of the ceremony. Your contribution helps decentralize the process and makes it incredibly difficult for any malicious actor to compromise the new Selective Transparency features.

How to Participate

Contributing to the Multiparty Computation Ceremony is simple. You can sign in using your X or Github account to access a dashboard where you can monitor the activity of other contributors. Once you join, your computer will perform an intense cryptographic operation that may take three to four hours, depending on your processing power. You can pause and resume the activity at any time. To avoid interruptions, ensure your computer doesn’t go into sleep mode during the process.

The Multiparty Computation Ceremony will run for a few days. The upgraded version of DOP with the Selective Transparency feature will be launched soon after the ceremony is concluded!

Your contribution is a natural next step: By joining this Multiparty Computation Ceremony, you’ll be playing a vital role in securing DOP’s Selective Transparency features.
