Enhancing DOP's Security and Compliance with Hexagate

main

In an increasingly digital world, data ownership has never been more important — and that’s why DOP is allowing Web3 users to have greater control over how much of their information is in the public domain.

As we continue to evolve and improve our platform, we’re delighted to announce a new collaboration with Hexagate — along with the launch of an improved version of our mainnet, and an updated URL: dapp.dop.org.

Our features center on selective transparency, marking the end of an era where blockchains broadcast every single element of your financial affairs in granular detail. Now, you can encrypt information about your token balances and transactions with ease, enhancing privacy.

DOP’s protocol means crypto owners can finally enjoy the same confidentiality that bank account holders worldwide receive by default. It’s surreal to think we’ve ever been in a situation where records of someone’s wealth were visible for the world to see on blockchain explorers.

But there’s another key consideration to make: security and compliance. From the beginning, we’ve prioritized cultivating a safe environment for our users, earning their trust, and ensuring that tainted funds from malicious actors never infiltrate our ecosystem.

DOP is proud to unveil its latest collaboration with Hexagate, a real-time threat prevention platform that enables projects like ours to stay one step ahead of exploits.

Proactive Web3 security

Hexagate is already trusted by some of the industry’s biggest names — including Consensys, Ava Labs and Polygon. Its enterprise-grade infrastructure has a simple objective: preventing financial losses before they happen.

Suspicious addresses are continually monitored, with instant alerts once high-risk transactions are detected. Illicit funds can be traced as they move across blockchains, with sophisticated tools that monitor risks related to governance and smart contracts.

In practice, Hexagate’s architecture will help DOP create personal pools for user assets — with a five-minute delay to verify the integrity of wallets belonging to individuals joining our platform for the first time. Approval means funds will move to the main pool, and if problems are detected, the digital assets in question will be returned. This 5-minute window is crucial to ensure Hexagate’s tools have adequate time to properly scrutinize transaction activity — protecting DOP’s ecosystem and the users within it.

With the integration of Hexagate, users should be aware of a new two-step process for actions like encrypting or decrypting assets. This process requires gas fees twice: once to select your activity and again upon completion. The first transaction is an authorization, allowing the protocol to interact with your tokens (an “approval” transaction), which incurs a gas fee. The second transaction completes the action, such as encrypt or decrypt, with a final gas fee.

To optimize your experience and minimize costs, we recommend using Polygon, which offers some of the lowest gas fees in the industry, making it a cost-effective choice for DOP users.

The driving force behind this added layer of checks is to prevent money laundering, and make it even harder for cybercriminals to cash out ill-gotten gains. Given how the first few minutes after hacks and exploits are critical, real-time scrutiny matters.

Hexagate’s arrival complements DOP’s use of Chainalysis, a blockchain data platform that acts as a bouncer at the door to our protocol — waving through funds with a legal provenance while blocking illicit transactions. While Chainalysis plays a vital role in our compliance framework, it is possible for malicious actors to circumvent its tools in certain circumstances.

Integrating both systems effectively creates another layer of checks, and means our protocol will be more informed than ever before. Whereas Chainalysis updates suspect wallet lists every 24 hours, Hexagate scrutinizes transactions in real time.

Further measures to bolster DOP’s resilience are also in the pipeline. Work has begun to integrate a Proof of Innocence layer that enables users to prove the legitimacy of transactions without eroding privacy. As well as reducing the amount of time it takes to verify where funds have come from, this will help address potential gaps in our existing security offering by detecting illicit activities that Hexagate and Chainalysis don’t cover.

Mainnet Upgrade and Updated URL

Along with the integration of Hexagate tools, DOP’s mainnet is now upgrading to a more advanced version and migrating to a new URL.

Key points to note about this upgrade:

  1. New URL: The DOP dApp is moving to a new URL – dapp.dop.org. This updated URL will be the home for all DOP operations moving forward.
  2. Old Version Status: The old dApp at app.dop.org will remain active for users who still have assets there. However, this version will no longer support encrypting new assets.
  3. Seamless Data Migration: All existing data will migrate to the new dAPP seamlessly. This transition does not affect existing wallet addresses, staking, or other user activities.
  4. Recommendation: We strongly recommend using the new version as it includes significant upgrades and improvements.
  5. Continuity for Existing Users: For those still using the old dApp, you can continue to use it as before, but please note that new feature updates and improvements will only be available on the new version at dapp.dop.org.

This upgrade represents our commitment to continual innovation and improvement. The upgraded dApp version provides our users with an enhanced, more secure, and feature-rich experience.

We all have the right to enjoy privacy when it comes to our financial affairs — but this shouldn’t be extended to fraudsters who steal digital assets and hide in the shadows. That’s why DOP is constantly introducing sophisticated security solutions to protect law-abiding users, shielding their funds and eliminating their exposure to tainted wallets.

We encourage all our users to transition to the new dApp to take full advantage of the latest features, including our improved security measures with Hexagate’s integration. As always, we’re here to support you through this transition and look forward to continuing to serve your data ownership needs in the Web3 space.

Compliance and security in the digital assets space are crucial for mass adoption. Not only do they help the crypto space shed an outdated reputation of being a “Wild West” for criminals, but it gives newcomers the confidence to interact safely with the future of money. With these latest updates, DOP is taking another significant step toward making selective transparency available to all.
