What is Selective Transparency?

Selective Transparency is a feature within the DOP platform that allows you to manage the on-chain visibility of your crypto assets and NFTs. It’s designed to give you flexibility – you can choose precisely what information to share and what to keep private, striking your own balance between privacy and the inherent transparency of the blockchain. 

Why Use Selective Transparency?

The benefits center around giving you greater control and peace of mind:

• Personalized Privacy: You’re in the driver’s seat. Decide which tokens or NFTs are visible and even how much detail about your balances you want to reveal.
• Simplicity: Managing your privacy shouldn’t be complicated. We’ve designed the interface to be straightforward and easy to navigate.
• Enhanced Security: By limiting public information, Selective Transparency safeguards your assets from potential threats and reduces the risk of targeted attacks.

How It Works: Customizing Your Visibility

Getting started with Selective Transparency is simple:

1. Log in to your account on the DOP platform.
2. Navigate to the “My Data Settings” section.
3. Explore the “Profile Settings,” “Token Settings,” and “NFT Settings” tabs to customize your preferences.

Here’s what you can control:

• Profile Settings: Upload a profile picture and choose a unique username. Usernames are first-come, first-served, so grab yours while it’s available! You can also preview how your public profile will look to others on the DOP Explorer.
  
  
• Token Settings: For each token in your wallet, you can toggle its visibility between “Visible” and “Hidden.” Want to show you hold a token without revealing the exact amount? Use the balance visibility slider. For instance, instead of showing you have 2.5 ETH, you can set it to display “> 1.25 ETH”.

• NFT Settings: Similar to tokens, you can set each NFT in your collection to “Visible” or “Hidden,” ensuring only the pieces you want to showcase are public.

• Bulk Editing: Have many assets? You can select multiple tokens or NFTs and update their visibility settings all at once using the “Show Selected” or “Hide Selected” buttons.
• Sender Reveal: Choose whether you’d like to share your identity with recipients.

Your public profile on the DOP Explorer will only display your chosen username, profile image, and the tokens or NFTs you’ve set as visible. Everything else remains private according to your settings.

Alongside the launch of Selective Transparency, we’ve rolled out several other improvements to the DOP platform:

• Arbitrum Network Support: We’re expanding our reach! The Data Ownership Protocol now supports the Arbitrum network, offering more options for users interacting within that ecosystem.

• Transaction Clarity: You’ll now see estimates for how long transactions might take and the anticipated gas fees, helping you make more informed decisions.
